New Midi Lathe Gloat

>Hi All,

Yesterday we got the new Jet midi lathe from toolking for $215 including shipping.

As soon as I got home from work, my 15 year old (Bryan) had me set it up for him. Took a scrap piece of poplar and started to show how to mount it on the lathe.

What could be better than seeing my son wanting to be a part of the woodworking scene. I can tell that he will be hooked on turning as I am with flat working.

The pen kit that was recommended will be ordered soon. In the meantime, I ordered a complete pen kit from the Griz (cheap and a quick way to get him going).

Thanks to all the WC folks that offered all the great advise.

>Heck, He will be happy with a one day class with Bill Grumbine.

I know I could use another one.

>I spent a few hours with Bill and consider it money well spent. There is no substitute for practice but with Bill you will learn the right techniques to practice.
