Jet 1014 question

>I am finally turning a little bowl on my Jet 1014 and find that the banjo will not go over the motor. Is this normal? I do have the Vegas motor and controller and will be making the lathe variable speed, like Mark Kauder, in the future, but it may be several months until my house sells and I get moved. I would like to turn a litte as time allows, but the failure of the banjo to go over the motor is a drag (no pun intended) Has anyone else experienced this?

>The lower the motor, the tighter the belt. Loose belt means high motor, and the banjo won't pass over the top. Check belt tension.

>I need a keeper. The last time I changed the speed I put the belt on the third step on one pulley and the fourth step on the other. The belt was tight in the loosened position. No wonder the motor was so high. Everything is working as it should now. The little lathe is a far cry from the heavy brute I sold, but I really like it.
