More towards the TN/GA/NC border is the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown. Probably no more than 100 miles from the Waynesville area.

They always have something going on there.

That's a beautiful drive. Another good place that isn't too far away is Klingspor in Hickory NC. They have a club that meets there and the store has a lot of stuff besides Sandpaper.

>Doug, I am just south of there.Hayesville, NC is about 45 miles north of me. There is a meeting at the Brasstown club in Hayesville Sat, Aug 7 with George Hatfield from down under. I plan to attend that but otherwise I am usually around my shop or sawmill. Come on by.

>George Hatfield is great. He was at the AAW symposium and I had breakfast with him. I thanked him for getting my on the straight track regarding the skew. I saw him at John Jordans about 5 or 6 years ago. I had just turned a table leg and it took me about 2 hours. I watched George turn one in 23 minutes. My time is now considerably less as well thanks to his teaching and my practice.
