exotic wood allergy???
Fred Hatton
>I just had a very unpleasant experience with a whole body allergic reaction that included my throat swelling. I would like to know if others have experienced similar. The woods I have been working with are purpleheart, yew, padauk, bocote, cocobolo, tulipwood, kingwood, birdseye maple, and most recently yellowheart. I was sanding most of these about 48 hours before the rash/hives started. There are several other potential allegens incuding avocado and a powdery sulfa drug I was giving my horse that I could have inhaled somehow.
I know that contact dermatitis is a risk with exotic hardwoods, but what about the rash/hives all over the body and swelling throat?
