I am pleased with the bowl. I will take a better picture and post it here as time permits. I am already critical of it, but I am proud of the first effort.

Now the questions begin. I do have a motley collection of turning tools, none of them properly sharpened, I am sure. When you get back to Arizona, I'd like to schedule another lesson with you. Meantime, please comment on a sharpening jig and wheel to acquire. I do have a grinder but I am unsure of the wheels now on it. What should I get?

Comments from others gratefully considered as well.

Looks like I got the bug. Is there a cure? :-)

Turning Bug Gotcha?

You did a great job on your first bowl, as I knew you would.

For turning tools I'd recommend an aluminum oxide grinding wheel in 60 or 80 grit, or if you plan on 2 new wheels, a 60 and 100 grit.

As an old time turner, I resisted getting a jig for tool sharpening. I finally broke down and got a Oneway Wolverine, and I strongly recommend it.

I'm still on an extended trip in the Northwest. I've acquired quite a bit of turning wood, mostly figured myrtlewood and burl and figured maple. I hope to get some madrone burl. We plan on getting back to Arizona late in August, in time for some of the monsoon weather.

Please keep and post a journal of where to buy the good stuff. I would like to make a trip up ther ein the fall or winter as I understand that is a better time to buy.
