Road Trip from WA to OR

Dustmaker Mike

>I could see a road trip down to help take these moss covered trees outa your way. The only problem is I can't make it till Sept. If I can get Sophie and may Dave Smit along the way we could have a tree cutting party. Could be fun.

Hmmm...now how am I going to do this?

David Sophusson, Custer Wa.

>For me its going to have to be a overnighter weekend thing. This weekend is out cause Im moping because I cant make it to 5-Barns. Next weekend we have to go to a family reunion down at The Dalles which would put me in the area but with no time for wood gathering. After that I have to take the ol covered wagon in for a new roof and window which will take up to 7-10 days to replace so that blows 2 more weekends. After that we have to get ready for a 2 week working/fishing vacation down at the Oregon house. Ray and Judy Johnson may be coming with us and Mike, Dave and Sandy you are more than welcome to join us too, the Kings will be in the river and fishing should be great! We will be leaving Saturday Sept. 4 and returning on the 17th or so. So for me the best time for gathering wood is on the way back if anyone wants to get together at that time it would be great.

...Okay... how about I...

D Wood Butcher

>... get back into this discussion ;) We have an open invite to the property, some 40+ acres. The landlord is an Elder in our Church and is very accommodating. He looks at all the trees but the Fir, as firewood, sooooo......

Anyway, he has a section that will become a roadway for the county around March of '05 and will be doing a land swap, 5 acres for 18 (now, how come I can't work a deal like that....) so this is the only deadline we have to consider.

I have a couple of Flat Lander WC'ers that are trying to work a trip as well, but most likely will leave the Burls....

As for a Fall "Harvest Party", I am game if you all are. We have a modest backyard and indoor plumbing and one spare bedroom indoors... About 10 miles from here, is Champoeg State Park with camping facilities (check it out online)... Also, could camp on the 40+ acres and get an early start (would check with the landowner first)

Anyone that wants to cruise the timber on a recon trip for the group is welcome as well... let me know. Also, we need to get this into an off-line discussion soon so we need to go e-mail with a group. Everyone interested, send me an e-mail and I will try to pull things together.

>Count me in. I've got lots of time between Aug 1st and Christmas. I could drop my wife off in Portland at her friends and show up with a truck, a saw, and an eager smile. Or see if one of the other club members up here in Seattle is up for a road trip.

I live in the Portland area and would love to help harvest some of that wood. Please include me in your offline e-mail discussion and we'll plan a day of wood butchering.
