DRIVE CENTER OLD LATHE

John Vancil in Silverdale, Wa

>I resently picked up a old spindle lathe at a garage sale, but it was missing the drive center. It takes one that has a 5/8" ID. hole. It can be either 5/8x11 thread or 5/8" ID. Any help would be great. Thanks John

>Shopsmith uses a 5/8 plain spindle. I've never owned one so don't know what their spur drive looks like.

>If all else fails you could look in the MSC catalog for a 5/8x11 long nut and a bolt to fit. Cut the end off the bolt and grind the end into a drive.
