>I just received a disturbing phone call regarding one of our Central Virginia Woodturner members, Joe Berg. I don't have all of the details, but it seems that Joe was using a bowl saver type setup and was hit by a blank that flew off of the lathe. The force knocked him into another piece of equipment, and he suffered a fractured skull. He is in the hospital, but I don't know what his condition is.

Please keep Joe and his family in your thoughts and prayers. I will update when I get further news.

>CT Scan showed a bad concussion, not a fracture as suspected. Joe is still in ICU for further tests, but things are sounding better.

Thanks for sharing this info with us....and keep us posted. I hope the positive that can come from this is that others will learn from this accident. Let him know he has prayers being said for him!

>The blank did indeed hit him, but it seems the fall did the worst damage. I just received more info - he is still in ICU but will be moved to a room as soon as one is available. The hospital wants to watch him for a week or so. He is talking now, so that's a good sign!
