OT: Something I do for fun *LINK*

Mike Schwing from Maryland

>Hi all. This upcoming weekend is the annual Ironman USA triathlon at Lake Placid, NY. It was the first place I did the Ironman and every year at this time I break out the race report I did and read it over a time or two. I thought many of my friends here (or at least some of you) would enjoy reading it.

It is a long read. Linked below.

Congratulations Mike!!!

Pete Lamberty

>Mike, I think what you did is absolutely fantastic. I have watched the Ironman, Hawaii one, numerous times on television and I have always been amazed at the people in the race. Congratulations and it was nice to read a first hand account of what it was like. I am sure you will never forget the experience.

thanks everybody

>Glad you enjoyed the read!

Dave - I'm not participating this year, my tired 38 year old body can't take that punishment year after year, so I skip every now and then. The race I did that first time is this weekend and it always gets me thinking about my first time, so I pull out the report I did, and decided to share it with you guys.

I _think_ that in 2006 my wife and I will both be doing an Ironman together somewhere. She's got the bug.

>Your wife most likely got the bug just by watching all the positive changes that came about in you.You are lucky to have a wife who embraces an interest you are so passionate about.

An old 1st Sgt. of mine once told me there are three types of people is the world, people that make things happen, people that watch things happen, and people who wonder what happened. He also told me to endeavor to stay with the first group.

I guess there`s no doubt in anyone`s mind which group you`re in.Keep on inspiring others,Mike. It`s a gift that we need more of.
