I hear ya' bro! My wood pile is just about at it's max. Any higher and my dog will be able to just "walk" over the fence. As it is now, he stands on top and glares menacingly at the neighbor's cat. :>)

When I come across a large wood find, and I know I can't take anymore home with me (or risk learning to sleep out in the shop PERMANENTLY), I post a "heads up" here at at SMC. And, good for you, you're doing that already!

The other alternative is renting a BIG U-Haul and bringing as much as you can up to Bill's BBQ! Sell it off the back of the truck for bargain basement prices and you'd probably still make a profit!

For several years I used a bucksaw. Everyone thought I was crazy but it's really good aerobic exercise once you get into the rhythm. It's surprising what you can do with a sharp ax and good bucksaw and some splitting wedges.

Of course you'll end up with a chainsaw just like I did but it was fun while it lasted. I'll keep the saw and when My son gets older I'll tell him "back in my day we used to have to cut the wood by hand" That and Walking 5 miles to school through the snow.

Believe me when I tell you that even if half of the population in our area were turners, there would still be a gross waste of trees going to the chipper and landfills.
