Chatroom Subjects

Mark Kauder, Phenix City, AL

>First of all, I would like to thank and publicly acknowledge the great job the Terry Daniel does with our chatroom each Wednesday night. I enjoy them very much.

However, as Terry has mentioned himself, finding subjects for each week gets tough.

Dom Greco, Joel Hunnicutt and I were emailing each other about the subject this morning, and the concensus was that we think that maybe we should only have a dedicated subject once or twice a month, and just have open chat the other weeks.

So many times when we have had a subject, there is alot of dead air as no one has anything to contribute. However, most times the best information (and fun) is had after the formal subject.

Opinions?

>Sounds good to me. I know many times I would like to ask questions but there probably isn't enough interest to schedule a chat around the topic.

I think that would work. Often there are 2 subjects or more going at once anyway. There's been a great discussion going on Originality on the old AAW discussion group. This might make a good topic. The discussion centers around copying others work and what if any is original work.

>That sounds like a good idea. Maybe then some of us who don't get time to make the chat very often would be more inclined to try asking questions. I know the very few times I've tried to participate it seemed like no one even knew I said anything. I'm not one of the "regulars" or a well known, accomplished turner but I do have a lot that I can learn from other chatters and maybe could even contribute something. I guess I'll have to try again sometime and see how things go-if I can find the time. Anybody know where I can find some 30 hour days?

Best of Luck, Don.

>On general chat nights, if you have a question that you know of in advance, it might be helpful to post it here sometime on Wed. to give people time to consider it.

I know I'm dying to ask about Liquid Dish Detergent. NOT!!!
