As a rule, it is the content of the site (i.e., your work), rather than how artsy or stylistic it is, that people are most interested in. The quality of the pictures, though, is important. Make it tasteful, make navigation intuitive and keep the content as fresh as you can.

My own site is not a good example of some of this advice because it's also my technical sandbox and I sometimes get carried away nurding; however, it is not hard to put together some good looking pages that feature your work. There are probably some of us, including myself, who'd be happy to help you on this if you want it.

Remember the saying " you get what you yay for ".

In my opinion decide how much you want to afford and buy the best. A cheap lathe holds no value but a quality used lathe will sell for close to the new price.

As for making a website, an easy to use, intuitive, and template based WYSIWYG application is M/S Publisher. You may already have it on your computer.

Kep it simple. Avoid some web hosting program that makes a site for you. The less HTML code the better. This will make the site readable by the most people. It will aslo make updates easy for you.

Let us know when you have something to look at. Once you get a site you are happy with then go shoping for a hosting service and a domain name to associate it all with.

They have templates available for site construction. I chose to use the blank page.

The new version of their "Site Builder" program is much easier to use than the one available when I started putting the Site together. It has the advantage of not having to learn to use any HTML languages. You can still use HTML if you wish.
