>Here is a couple of wedding goblets that I made for someone last week. The one on the left is 5.5" tall and the other is about 7" tall. I made the stem on taller one so that the rings could not drop to the base, I am not sure that I like that or not. I like to use standing dead cedar, it doesn't seem to move at all and it seems to have alot of character with the sap wood and small checks that are often in it.

as most of you know, I have been turning goblets for several years. I think a lot of personal "taste" goes into most I have turned. So far, I have not found a wood I do not like to use for decorative goblets, but for goblets that will be used I stay away from exotics and stick to common woods, maple, cherry, beech, oak. I am not an expert by any means, but will offer any tips I can. I will include my web page link. This Cedar goblet tends to be most peoples favorite....I tend to think its a bit chunky, but I guess I got it about right for a second goblet, circa 1995

>here is another goblet that I did last year while assisting Binh Pho. It was pierced, airbrushed and gold leafed. Please excuse the photography on these. It's 10 PM and I'm tired so I just shot them with on camera flash. You can easily see why I prefer other sources of lighting.
