I have been giving that some thought. I would like to do the same, but generally I have trouble getting the nexus of all 12 or 24 segments to meet perfectly. How do you do it? At present, I am drilling out the center and plugging it, to eliminate the need for the center to be perfect.

I would really like to learn your technique on this matter.

I usually use 6 or 8 segments, with the grain oriented the same as the rest of the piece. I glue two segments at a time, until I have two halves.

When I hold the two completed halves together, I want the outer edges to touch, with an air gap in the center. I run each half through my table saw, secured with a toggle clamp on a homebuilt sled, just skimming the center. I then glue the two halves together. No gaps when finished, hope this helps. BTW, hope You still plan on Orlando!!
