I don't use CA as a finish very often because it's just too expensive and the fumes are nasty. When I do use I put the dust collector hose nearby to pull the fumes away. I have a friend who used a fan over his shoulder.

I many have to give it another try after watching Tom Fortenbery use CA to finish the outside of a vessel. The trick was to use Cotton Batting as the applicator and keep the glue bottle near the applicator so as the glue started to run out on the applicator you could immediately apply more while the piece was still spinning.(slowly I might add) The trick Tom said is to apply one coat from top to bottom without stopping. If you stop or run out of glue it will produce a line that's very difficult or impossible to get rid of.

I've only used it on pens and I use a piece of wax paper as my applicator.

The polyester fibers in the Synthetic Batting is better because the cellulose in cotton and paper acts as an accelerator for the CA glue. There is no reaction with the polyester.

>I use ScotchBrite pads.... to stop the drips and distribute the CA.... seems to work great, and a lot better than the plastic bags and wax paper I have tried in the past.... I haven't had any problems and the pad lasts a very long time...

I just looked at my notes. He did say Polyester quilt batting but if memory serves me he also mentioned that cotton batting would also work but had a tendency to make the CA harden in the batting.
