>Has anyone found an easy way to remove that black non skid substance from the stock tool rest?
Its driving me nuts, and using my pocket knife isnt working very well.

Seriously - use a mill file to file the tool surface smooth.

>I agree, I used a file and filed my off, but you will have to do the filing anyway due to nicks and dings in the rest, and the black substance will come off, once off you can apply light wax to keep it from rusting and make it slick for the movement of the tool.....until it breaks anyway...so far I have had mine 2 years and still have the orig rest!!!!...Dennis Taylor
