Ellis' Almond Bowl

>I don't know if anyone else has said anything, but that is one beautiful bowl, Ellis. I have turned one piece of almond and love it. My log was still pretty green and cracked badly before I could get to it. I got two bowls out of it, though. But, I smashed the first one with the gouge and broke it to smitherings (small pieces). I hope I can come across another piece as pretty as your's to work someday soon.

>I agree. I've been looking at it every time I see that pic. The detail around the rim is a fantastic choice and I would have never tried that, but it sure works. Great profile, too. Makes me want to see if it rocks back and forth. That would be a neat bowl to have no foot or an offset one.

>Good catch, Al, and thanks for the nice words, by the way. That wood really has some incredible variation in the grain, figure, color and texture. If any of you would like to get a piece, go to Woodfinder and look up Urban Forest recycling, in Tavernier, FL. (Search by Company Name -- at the bottom of the search form) Mark will be glad to hack out a piece for you. His supplies are inconsistent, but I think he still has some of that log left.
