The pens I have the most problems with are Classic American by woodcraft.

This takes an "0" drill bit.

I have seen a set of dissembly tools that said they will take apart any pen and come with instructions for use.

Does anyone know how to disassemble this type of pen without destroying the transmission?

Does anyone know of the disassembly kit I saw?

>I ran into the same problem with slimline pens. After doing a search on disassembly tools I sent an email to Craft Supplies asking if they carried one. The response was no. They were hard to use and the results weren't what they wanted. I have no opinion on those statements. I stopped by ACE Hardware and bought a 1/8" brass rod for $3.00. A four or five inch piece fits through the twist assembly and a couple whackes with a hammer and the tips pops off. A 1/4" bolt can then be used to knock out the twist piece. I've found that sticking the end in a drilled blank gives just the right amount of support to either knock it out or adjust it back just a bit. I don't know what the a difference between the 7 mm and 0 size might involve.

The transmission and the stud for the cap are in the top.It seems one must be removed to get the other one out.

The other thing that confusees me is there are disassembly kits listed for both slimline and the 10mm pens.

The classic American is neither one of these.

>Does this pen use a Parker style refill? If so, the transmission, assuming you are referring to the twist mechanism, should unscrew on this style of pen. As far as I know, all pens that use a parker style refill have a mechanism that unscrews from the bottom barrel.

To dismantle the remaining parts, use a rod and hammer to tap out the pressed in pieces.

BTW, what kind of problems are you having that cause you to dismantle the pen.

>The transmission or twist mechanim does indeed screw onto the lower part of the pen but it "seats" in the stud that holds the clip on on the top of the pen.

once it "seats",virtually impossible to pull off teh stud because the top of the mechanism is between the tube and the stud.
