annoying pop-up

>This may be the wrong place to post this, but the last couple of weeks, I've been getting annoying pop-ups asking me if I want to install Macromedia flash player 7 everytime I read this message board. Does anyone have a good fix. It doesn't seem to happen with any other web site.

I thought I must have picked up something while I was there. I'll be very interested in the answers to this question. Maybe I should just install the micromedia player to stop the pop up.

>I might know what this is. In looking to give Wood Central some advertising revenue, I created a flash banner ad. My understanding was that if it was displayed through a browser, a flash player wasn't required. Obviously, this may not be the case or it may be dependent upon the browser being used.
Anyway, I've sent an email to Ellis and asked him to remove it and I'll replace it with a non-flash one. I am surprised, though, because flash banners are being used with great frequency anymore.

All browsers are capable of displaying them. The third style is a Macromedia Flash image that let's you be your own Steven Spielberg and be as creative as you like.
I believe it's possible to create a flash file and then at display time determine if a flash player is installed. If one isn't, you display a static image instead and I'll have to figure out how to do that. First, I'm going to go make some sawdust - I already know how to do that. In the meantime, I've converted the banner from a flash to an animated gif file.
If there are other potential advertisers out there reading this, a banner ad is a good way to support Wood Central. Just don't use flash. ;->

>Installation of Flash is 1) easy (you just say yes when the pop up occurs) and 2) free. More and more sites use it so why not install the plugin so your browser can display properly?
