Figured ash bowl

>Figured white ash. All heartwood in this one. VERY large tree. Sadly I'm about to run out of this gorgeous wood. Its been very good to me. About 12" diameter x 5" tall, finished with walnut oil and beeswax. Been working on my photo setup, getting a little better, but my lights are too bulky to place properly. I'll get there eventually. thanks for looking.

I really like this bowl. It's a very pleasing form to look at and I bet it feels great in hand too. I like your rim treatment too. I enjoy turning ash also. I've had pretty good luck with it. If you ever get the chance, try sandblasting an ash piece. It works great on the soft grain.

Very nice. I too like the rim treatment. I find this shape works really well for smaller candy dishes. It's what I call user friendly.
Good job on the photo. On the side view you might try moving the bowl back into the booth a little. This will put a little more light in the front. You'll have to zoom in a little. If you can't zoom in just shoot it smaller and crop later in the computer.
If you'll show me your setup I'll try to make some suggestions on moving the lights. I played with this extensively before I taught the last workshop because I found out that moving the lights is almost as much trouble as learning to shoot for my students.
