>A close friend and fellow turner will be off to Nova Scotia for two weeks in his motor home. Does anyone have suggestions for woodturning visits that can be made there and also, any species of wood that may be more common and available there than what's available here in the mid-atlantic states?

These are pretty standard here except for the spruce and tamarac. For some reason most people do not like to turn them. I am in Truro. Visitors are welcome.
