need Red Corian

>I received white and blue Corian donated to our club Freedom Pens project by Art Specialties but need to find some red. Any sugestions for finding any? I've called the cabinet shops around here but I guess red counter tops aren't very popular.

If it's for the Freedom Pen Project you can get red, white, and blue Corian from the FPP website (www.freedompens.org). It's free - you just pay shipping. But this is only for the FPP.

Polymer Clay as Corian substitute?

>Dunno if it will work, but polymer clay from hobby shops might work as a substitute. Check Summer issue of Woodturning Design for an article on making pens.
The clay is soft and can be kneaded and formed into shapes or rolled to thickness, then baked at 275 degrees (F) in an oven to harden. Then it can be drilled, turned and sanded. It's available in many colors.
I've been considering making a red, white and blue stack to insert and turn in pens meself.

Hadn't thought of that. The pen making book coauthored by Kip Christensen (SP?) has a chapter on using the clay. I just loaned my copy out so can't check the title.
