Fisch or Jet?

>Anyone who has used and/or compared the Fisch TC90-100 to the Jet min NVS, I would appreciate any comments, reviews, or evaluations. I am looking to buy one or the other for pens, small bowls,candlesticks, salt and pepper mills, etc..
I can get either for right around $200.00, so even slight advantage one way or the other would help.

The belts are easier to change on the Fishe, the Jet has been out long enough to have a good reputation except for the short tool rest breaking. I think they both have about the same power. I haven't turned on the Fishe in about a year now. I seem to remember something I liked about the knobs and levers but can't put my finger on it. wish I could help more but without seeing the Fishe in the flesh I can't remember all things I liked about it. I remember being impressed and definitely put it in the same class as the jet.
We hardly ever see any exchange of info on the Fishe on the various newsgroups. This either means that there aren't any out there or they don't have any problems. The Jet is another story. There must be thousands out there. The only problems seem to be a motor that gets hot and the short tool rest breaking. Don't think this happens extremely often. I probably personally know almost 20 or so people who own the jet and no one has had the motor get too hot and know of only one brocken tool rest which jet replaced.

>Thank you for your response. The part about the hot motor is probably enough to sway my decision. But right now I have a 1/3hp grizzley mini with an infinitely variable speed motor (that's really handy) so the ease of changing the belt on the Fisch might clinch it. The Griz is my first lathe so I've never had to deal with changing the speed with a belt. I have to admit I'm a bit nervous as to whether I'm gonna like it or not.

>I have the Jet mini and I don't have any problem with it at all....for the money it was a great starter investment, I got it to make sure turning is something I would enjoy, and it is a great piece of equipment...only problem I have with the lathe, is that it don't seem to like the skew to be used with it....always makes a catch...hehehe...Dennis
