Re: Scorpion Hollowing system

>I know this isn't expanding your uses base much, but for me, I regulary use the canted shaft and straight shaft Proforms in the Scorpion Brace, using their 5/8's adaper.
I also reguarly mount both 5/8 and 3/4 Kelton Hollowers.
The Steward Hooker, Omnitool, and SuperOmini tool all fit just fine. The Omnitool is often used with the Stewart scraper heads.
The John Jordan Hollowers are a wonderful combination to use with the Scorpion, I expecially like the added reach of his large straight and curved tools, and the good tip design. These are excellent additions to the original Scorpion Set.
I've occasionally used the Munro Hollower in the Scorpion, but generally prefer it in a straight handle.
I use my passive internal sander at the end of an Omni or Scorpion straight tool in the armbrace or with just the pistol grip portion of the armbace.
I regularly use the big Kelton scrapers in the armbrace for deep bowl.
And of course the Stewart (and Sorby clone) Slicers work great in the armbrace.
I've also been experimenting using the pistol grip with tools like the Donald Derry hollower that has a forward mount restrained gate instead of a traditional tool rest.
As for cutting tips fitted into the Straight tool, you can fit the Termite tips (the are a little loose, but the set screw will take this up) and with a little modification, you can fit the Berger Viking tips. Indeed, if you wanted to get a second Scorpion Straight tool and enlarge the end bore to 3/8 (and I bet you could special order one this way from Don), you could fit any of the Stewart and Jamieson tips.
And, if you take a small piece of drill rod to fit the exisitng Scorpion straight bore and file the top of one end flat, then drill and tap, you could set up adapters for fit all the small Sorby tips, or make up another and you could fit the large Crown scraper tips.
You could even make up a little adapter or use the Beall drill adapter to mount Goblet and Bowl buffs.
What it comes down to is the original Stewart System the Scorpion is based on is incredibly versatile system, which has been made even more adaptable and versatile by Don Pencils addition of shaft adapter sleeves, the integral/removable pistol grip with a 3/4 inch socket, and the two sided Hooker tool.
I'm sure others have found even other combinations that work effectively
