Dumb hollowing ?

>Hey all,
I am (im)patiently awaiting the arrival of my hollowing system. :)
However, in anticipation to lots of practice, I had a question on hollow forms that have a contrasting "top" "finial". ie, a walnut form with a maple top.
How do you go about doing that? do you glue the two pieces together much like a lamination and then turn the outside/hollow inside or is the top put on after the hollowing is done and you blend it in and drill a hole?
Thanks in advance!
William
