Maple Burl

>I posted last week about a maple tree a friend put me on to that the owner was just cutting up and wanted to get rid of. well I went back for a second truckload last night and cut until my arms were ready to fall off.

Here are some photos. I hope they are clear enough after compression. I had a lot of fun and am now trying to beg friends to store wood for me. I want to go back for more but am having space issues.

I now also need to try and turning green wood as I have never done so.

>Another shot, this one before I goto going yesterday form the downhill side. Again the saw in the picture for scale. Basically the last six feet of it were all burl and ten feet above that had burls all around it.

>This is the uphill side. Check out the bottom of this thing. All that went home with me last night.

>One last photo. This one is a closer look at what was inside of this thing. Each time a piece came off we were excited to see what the inside of it would look like as it was different each time. I'm looking forward to turning some of this as I always turn pretty vanilla stuff so this will be a real treat.

>Dave,

I'm really surprised that no one else has offered yet, but if you're having space issues, you can "store" some of it at my place! :)

Congrats on the great haul!
