First Completed Bowl

Brad

>I bought my lathe in March and have roughed out several bowls since then, I was anxious to complete one (I'm sure everyone can empathize!). I remembered that I had a chunk of cherry burl in the shed that I "harvested" about ten years ago. With my limited skills I was hesitant to put this prize piece of wood on the lathe, but couldn't resist. Here is what I came up with. The bowl is about 8.5" in diameter, 3/8" thick (my nerve gave out), finished with several coats of danish oil. Your comments are most welcome.

(This turning is a blast!)

>Very nice! Welcome to the addiction. Great sheen on the finish, and no visible tool marks. That is hard enough to do on your 100th bowl, that much more so on your first.
