Stump Removal

>I went to a part of my property that was recently clearcut. There are several walnut and cherry stumps that I would like to remove. What is the easiest way to get them out of the ground. A friend of mine has a dozer, but I doubt that it can get to them.

>Dynamite!!!! You might lose some of the wood from the blast but you would probably end up with some usable pieces. That's the way we used to take care of 'em down on the farm.

There was a product that contained saltpeter (potassium nitrate salt) which would soak into the wood. Stump could then be burned out. Gasoline or kerosene would help, but adding kerosene (fuel oil) would make it equivalent to the dynamite mentioned above.
