ebonizing

I have been experimenting with different ways of ebonizing. I tried disolving steel wool in vineger but it was a bit to spotty and seemed to take several applications.
Then I tried stove black and it works great. It has wax in it and buffs up really nice on the lathe. This is the same stuff that you get at the hardware store to restore your stove surface.
The top of this vessel IS ebony.
Fom the looks of this photo, the piece could use another coat.
