>Just ordered the new Super Nova II chuck w/75mm jaws from an Australian vendor, at a great price A$240 - A$22 tax = A$218 X .71 = US$155, plus shipping. This baby's got a closed back and an Allen key, like its big brother, the Titan. Not yet available for sale in the USA...WooHoo...link below.

Having had a Titan for some time now, I think this new Supernova 2 is going to be an outstanding chuck. Right now, I believe these new Teknatool chucks to have the most convenient and effective chuck actuator keys out there. Most have come to like the straight hex key of the VicMark. Teknatool goes this one better by offering a ball end hex key that more easily guides the key into the socket, and can be angled off to the side while tightening or loosening. And, of course, it will take all the existing Nova/SuperNova jaw sets.

>Below is a quote from the site above for a Vicmarc with shipping in $Aus. I guess it should be about the same for the Nova2.

Cost before shipping works out to be about 2/3 of the quoted $Aus taking into account exchange rate (.71) and not having to pay 9% value added tax which is included in their quoted price.

So for the Vicmarc 120: $Aus 250 x .66 = $166 + $Aus 60 x .71 or $42 for shipping 21 days. Total about $208 delivered USA.

Nova2 75mm chuck at $Aus 240 would be about $7 less if I haven't got this too tangled up.

So as a newbie to turning I ask: would you druther have a Nova 2 or Vicmarc 120? The Vicmarc has indexing on the back, I don't know about the Nova2.

I would appreciate your opinions. Also check my arithmetic!!

Your cost for the VM 120 scroll chuck would be $250.00 AUS ex gst

Freight for the chuck has 3 options

Air 7-10 days $72.50

Economy up to 21 days $59.50

Sea up to 12 weeks $41.50

All figures are in Aus dollars
