>Has anyone solved the problem of hooking up a Vacuum pump to a Jet 1236? I just bought the pump, and now need to connect it to my head stock.

Any previous experience or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

>I used the EZ Vacuum adapter that I bought from Packard for my 1236. It worked so well that I kept it when I sold the lathe. My Stubby has an internal vac set-up but if that develps a problem I will use the EZ unit.

It was simple then to hook the vacuum ,pump to the lath with a piece of air hose and a quick-connect fitting that sealed with no leaks and assembled in less than 60 sec.

Good Luck

>Thank you for the quick response. I just placed the order for the entire artisan vacuum chuck system without the pump.

I purchased two muffler/filters and an air gage with the pump. I now need some hose, connectors, and a bleeder valve. And I should be ready to turn. I've seen the muffler/filters installed on both the inbound and outbound sides of the pump is that a good plan?

>Filter on the intake (with a replaceable/cleanable cartridge - absolute must to protect the pump (even though they say they have an internal filter). Out-flow noise filter on a Gast, Robinair, Thomas, etc. - seriously recommended, they are annoyingly loud without it. Bleed valve = 1/4" ball valve at the Borg. Vacuum gage (NOT an air gage) available from most any machine supply.

Where to buy filter?

Where can this type of filter be purchased?

>I use a mini filter/regulator from Harbor Freight, Item No. 43242-0VGA @ $15 [$7 when on sale]. McMaster-Carr also sells straight filter units, not sure of prices, as does Reid Tool and Grainger.

>Here is a picture of what I purchased for $7.99 a piece from Surplus Center. I intend to place one on the in and the out. In as a filter, out as a muffler. Is this correct?

They refer to it as a VACUUM/COMPRESSOR PUMP FILTER/MUFFLER ASSEMBLY

>Appears to be a sintered bronze fitting in a bottle. Should do fine both ways.
