Mesquite Vase

>I normally don't usually buy wood, but I bought this a year ago at a woodturning meeting because I wanted to try mesquite. It is 7 1/2 in. H & 4 in. wide, finished with Russ's polymerized tung oil, poly varnish, and turpentine mixture, then buffed. Your comments are welcomed because I do not do many hollow forms. Thanks for looking.

>It may just be me, but I think I would like the neck to be a bit smaller and the mouth opening to be thinner. The curves that I see look very nice and seem to go together quite well. I'm sure others will give you better ideas than I have. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.

>Very nice, Glenn. I really like the way the grain pattern wraps around the widest part. The finish is the sort of effect I try for too, with some gloss but not so much it obscures the grain. Very effective on the mesquite. I do think the neck is too wide though, especially in proportion to the narrow base.
