Good save. No one but a woodturner would care. I never trust the hole I predrill. It's too hard to "feel" the bottom of the hole without removing a little material. Each time you push the boring tool into the bottom to feel where to start you remove a little more. Doesn't feel like much but pretty soon you've gone through. Does that sound like someone who's been there? It's only because I'm a keen observer of others who have done that. yea right.

>Thanks Doug. Actually, I didn't know ANYONE who thought mahogany was a lousy wood. As a lifelong boater, I always thought it was most beautiful, and have varnished several lifetimes' worth of mahogany.

The two small bowls I took the gallery were probably what got me in. Both of them together didn't weigh over 4 oz. She couldn't get over how thin they were.

I know I'll turn all I can get a hold of.
