>On an ego trip to see if I could turn an entire large log into a natural-edged faceplate bowl, I made the attached. It is quite large by my standards (Multhropp would probabaly think it to be one of his smaller creations), being 14" in Diameter at the top, and about 10" high.

I can't use it, and would like to sell it, but how do I present it, i.e., what can it be used for (other than a wastepaper basket for a man who REALLY likes his trash!)

It's actually quite a nice piece, with pretty grain inside and out, and that little "broken" edge at the top adds to the character.

Any ideas, anyone?

You have now entered the world of ART. Some pieces, like this one. serve no functional purpose other than to be "eye candy". Artsy pieces only need to be beautifully done and raise the comment "how did he do that"? The owner will need to put it where he/she can gaze upon it day in and day out and appreciate your skill in creating it.

Nice job. You must have had fun sanding it.

The fact that you made it and it exists is sufficient justification. As Doug said, look at it as art. The buyer will create the "need" or decide upon the use. Once you have created an artistic piece you let go and let each decide for themselves. Put a reasonable price on it and see what others think of your creation.
