Articulated Tool?

Mark Mandell - Gone Round In Jersey

>Working on a necked hollowing and it appears that I'm gonna have to make an articulated tool to get to both the "roof" of the vessel.

Will be using 3/8" O-1 with an insert M-2 cutter.

Anyone make one of these and, if so, what problems did you have? Joint faces will be ground since I don't have a mill. Lock will be a 10-24 socket head.

Thanks

Mark

>Mark there was an articulated tool on the market years ago. I may be able to find the article. It was in American Woodturner. Binh Pho has one and I got to look at it. It wouldn't be hard to build if you had access to some machine tools.

I'll try to look it up later tonight. I've got to get some photos retouched tonight before I play.

The articulated hollowing system was designed by Hugh Mckay. The article is in American Woodturner issue 12 no 2. page 20.
