Segmented Bowl Software

Bob M

>I am starting to want to do some segmented turnings (bowls, etc.) and was wondering what the members of this board thought about different software packages. I have looked at Kevin Neelley's Table Saw Miter Angles software and Woodturner Pro software. I'm sure there are others avaliable. What do some of you more experienced woodturners think of these packages or are there others you like better?

Thanks in advance for your input.

I prefer Woodturner Pro. I think that it is very intuative. I know that Joel Hunnicutt likes Woodturner's Studio for his open segment work.

Woodturner Pro is available for a 30 day trial, and the support that you get from Lloyd Johnson is fantastic.

The other program 3DPro is great too, since you can take a design from WTP and export it to 3DP to see what it looks like in 3D, or you can design a bowl in 3DP and export it over to WTP and build the appropriate layers to build it.

>Yeah, they both have pro's and cons. I like the scalability feature in woodturner pro and the open segment feature of woodturners studio. For the price, Kevin's is hard to beat. I use it allot, especially when I need to just compute one ring.
