Segmented Turning Demonstration

Joe DeBottis

>Just wanted to pass along this message I received from Ken Evans.

Just to let everyone know, Keith Tompkins will demonstrate his method of segmented turning at the NWA meeting this Thursday, May 13 at 7:00PM in the Shaker Society Meeting House facility off Albany Shaker Road near the Albany airport.

Keith is a member of the Adirondack Woodturners Association and would most likely appreciate having all his friends in the audience. Lets all attend the meeting and enjoy Keith's presentation.

See you there!

Ken

>Those of us who are lucky enough to know Keith are looking forward to his presentation tomorrow. He is a member of our turning club and the NWA and is an excellant presenter. His work is, as you know, extraordinary. I have been fortunate to be able to see his pieces up close in person and even pick them up and hold them as well as discuss his techniques. Keith is a great guy and we are fortunate to have him in our groups.

He has a good sense of humor so some heckling may occur. (Certainly not from me though!) Generally our NWA meetings are well attended and respectful of the presenter with lots of interesting questions from the audience.

By the way, check the EVENTS board for info on our upcoming Symposium!

Happy and Safe Turning, Don

>Hi Mark,

sure heckling is allowed. At my demo For NWA showcase someone in the audience asked " what would happen if you got a catch when you were doing that?"

I stopped the machine and replied " Could you explain what you mean by the term CATCH? I don't think I've ever experienced one of those!"

After a good laugh, I proceded to cut my demo piece in half!

>Keith,

Couldn't make the demonstration. But, your group is sending me video which I will put on The Canterbury Workshop website along with your other video.

Glad to see you are doing well.

Joe
