The wood basically looks like a wet baseball whose outside cover shrinks on drying and since the inside does not shrink the leather outer cover rips. Some wood is more difficult than others to dry but all can be dried without cracking; you just have to find the right combination. Mulberry isn't easy but it can be dried.......just slow it down a lot for the first 2 weeks. Try Anchorseal and then put it in a corrugated box and fold the flaps but do not tape closed.

>Barb, I have enough to do with out boiling.:) If I have to boil it I won't turn it generally. Now if I thought a Mulberry bowl would sell for $400 it would already be on the burner. Mulberry is ok but not fantastic so it is not on my list of desirable turning woods.
