>My 18" bed extension came in. Surprise the screws only fit in one side. Apparently the other end would be where you would attach the long bed extension. I had to turn the lathe around. I wanted the bed extension on the motor end because it will seldom be used and it doesn't take up as much room in the shop while it's sitting under the motor.

The extension is substatial weighing 57 pounds. This makes it tough to install. I'll give you a hint. snug the bolts and set the bed too high. then tap on it with a deadblow hammer until you get it aligned. It has to be exact with very little room for error.

I'm excited. I have a commission for a 48" lamp. it will pay for the extension.

I got it for $175 from the Toolnut. We ordered it in January and just got it. The Toolnut was apologetic. Apparently we had to wait for the slowboat from China, literally.

Sounds great! Could you take a photo, and some measurements of that bed extension? Mostly I'm concerned with the bed gap, and the overall width of the bed, as well as the hole pattern for the mounting bolts. You see where I'm going here, don't ya? :>)

If that bed extension is only $175, and if my existing Jet JWL-1642 tool rest will fit on it, then it would be easy to adapt this as for outboard turning. I can picture the adapter plate that would bolt this to the end of my lathe right now.

I try to remember to measure everything after work. I wonder if they make the same thing for the Jet? It should tell in your manual. It was only a small blurb in the back of my manual.

>My brother wanted to drop it down and bolt it lower on the legs of his lathe so he could have a large swing bowl lathe when he moved the sliding headstock to the end.I helped him with the calculations and placement and made a 6" extention for the toolrest.Just something to think about to expand your horizons.

I thought about exactly the same thing. I was going to make a riser block for the tail stock and extension for the tool rest. That may be in my future. John

I have found a guy with a steel plate add on but it is mucho expensive. I am not quite sure how the extention would be mounted, but it sounds like a great idea.

>The old and new PM 3520 lathes have differences in the beds, and bed placement. This is from experence, and also from the factory reps from PM including one of the original designers.

If you have an old model PM3520, the extensions are no longer available according to the reps.
