>I have recently purchased a used lathe from a friend. I am interested in green wood bowl turning. I would like to get some HSS tools for this type of work. Can anyone suggest the best tools at the best price?

>You could start with a 1/2" bowl gouge, spindle gouge and Fingernail profile bowl gouge. 1/2" seems to be the most common to start with and can carry you through most any bowl turning. I,m partial to the Fingernail profile, but thats just me. Sorby, and Crown tools are priced fairly. There is a multitude of places to purchase these tools and I'm sure you'll get lots of posts from people that have found good prices for these tools. If you haven,t already joined a local turning club, it is highly recomended for learning how to use tools and learn from others styles. Then you can develope your own. Lots of club members make there own tools and can show you how.Be warned, turning is highly addictive. Best of luck, Sean
