>I posted this on WoW and figured I'd post here as well. This piece reminded me of Jupiter as I was turning it. Endgrain turned maple 8.75"h x 9.25"d 2" opening and a 2.75" foot. Walls are approx 3/16". My largest vessel to date. Sure is a lot of wood inside one of these. Finish is oil that I'll buff later.

Since on of my past hobbies was astronomy, your title for this piece really caught my eye. Like Mike said, I can see the famous "Red Spot". The grain of maple can be quite surprising, can't it?
Nice shape! I bet you had to shoot really those knots full of CA just to keep them from cracking, right?
