Segmented Turning

>I am looking for a video and/or reference for segmented bowl turning.

I have several bf of 4/4 and 5/4 cherry, oak, maple and birch 8 inch wide and less. So I thought I would try to use it for bowls.

Suggestions are appreciated,

Gerald

Kevin Neely's Website

>One of the best resources I've found for information on segmented turning was Kevin Neely's website,

Turnedwood.com. The instructions on the site walk you through each step and even show you how to build your own tablesaw segment cutting sled.

As fas as books go, Segmented Wood Turning by William Smith is a good reference book. And Ron Hampton's new book Segmented Turning: A Complete Guide is also supposed to be good.

Another tool that I'd like to pass on to you is the software Woodturner Pro. You can download a trial version of this software at the site linked above. I've found it to be a awesome for laying out and designing segmented bowls.

Good luck.

See ya around,

Dominic
