Leopardwood

>Tuesday was my birthday.
When I got home from work, there was a box on the porch. It was about 40"x3"x8", and was heavy as heck.
When I opened it, it was a 6"x2"x6" piece of Leopardwood from my parents. My Dad and I had looked at some at "The Woodworkers Source" in Phoenix last month.
I have never turned any until tonight - boy is this stuff dense. Going to try set of candlestick holders with it.
Any of you ever turned any? Tips??

>What little I could find on it - it looks much like Snakewood (but true Snakewood - the really expensive stuff is from Austrailia) and in some quarters is called Lacewood. But I do not know if it is the same as Lacewood - or the Lacewood that you have seen.
