>... got a torn rotator cuff and was wondering what any of you might have experienced in your recovery. My plans for the foreseeable future are quite unknown. Can do some things as long as it is below my chest and not heavy guess I will dust off the lathe for some Freedom Pens. Not much else going to happen for a while.
>I had mine repaired 6 years ago. The surgery isn't too bad. The pysical therapy is very painful. Glad I finally did it though. It took a year to get to 90%. 3 to 4 years to get to 100%. Now it's as good as the other arm.
>Thanks Gary. That's the same general time-line I received but since mine is from a chronic condition, 100% recovery is a low percentage. Will take 90% if I can get it and be happy!
>I'm two weeks into physical therapy after injections into the shoulder joint. They're still undecided about how much damage I did, so the outlook is questionable at this point. I'm still hoping for reasonable recovery without surgery.
>I suffered through a partial tear a few years ago. I was fortunate to be able to recover from it without going under the knife. It healed very well for me, but I was quite limited in what I could do during the 9-10 months it took to recover to 90%. I have been cautious the past 3 years and I now have 100% recovery.
>I`d steer you toward Orthopaedic Associates.I just(3 1/2 weeks ago)had my RT shoulder done.I have much more range of motion and the pain is far less.I also had this injury caused by cumulative trauma(work related)they removed bone, repaired the hole in the cuff, and trmmed all the tendons, etc. All through a scope.
Ask about a Cryo-cuff.You`ll need it both after the surgery(they put mine on in recovery)and after you get home from PT.They`re so much better than an icepack.
With all my damage they still expect 100% recovery.I see no reason you can`t do the same with just a tear.Good luck.
