help! brand new husky won't start.

>i just got this brand new husky 359 that won't run. it seems like it's flooding out the plug (getting good spark) everytime i try to start it. it ran for a split second and stopped, now i can't even get it to start.
anybody ever have a problem with their husky? do they need to be broken in or something?

Mine always takes about 5 to 8 pulls when cold. I pull the choke and then crank till she starts. Works virtually every time. A few times I thought I flooded it but just a few more cranks and it starts.

In cold weather you need the choke. Once it's warmed up (it did start to run), you have to change the setting...
On the Stihl, I just shift the trigger up a notch.

i guess i'll let it sit till after dinner and try it again.
its just disappointing to spend so much money buying one of these and not have it run yet (and i have alot of wood to cut up).

Every saw has a personality. When I got my Jonsered I had a hard time starting it. Now I know what it likes and what it does not. Cold or hot, it will start on the first pull everytime. In warm weather you must push the choke in instantly when it cranks. You bought a good saw, just be patient and learn what it wants; I think you'll find that it will always crank with 2 or 3 pulls.

>Your saw comes from the factory set to run a little rich for the breakin. You do need to bring it to a dealer and have them reset it after about 10 tanks of gas.
To start your husky cold, pull the choke out and pull twice, push the choke back in and pull again, a couple times if needed. If she runs briefly and cuts out, take the choke out halfway (thats your fast idle) and pull again.

>If you continue to be able to start your saw, and the engine revs high, then dies, you might have the same problem I did - I bought brand new 395, and after a couple fo tanks fo gas, it would rev high, then die. Very frusterating. It turned out that a vaccuum hose had come off - if the problem is what I've describe, you might try pulling a couple of covers off, and just nosing around for a loose hose.

One personality trait (and it may only be my saw because it's old) is that once it starts I have to let it idle and get warm before I hit the gas. It stalls if I don't. It usually starts with just one pull after that however.

>Jim, I don't no whether you're doing this, but you're supposed to push the choke in once the motor 'tries' to catch and not use yhe choke again. If you leave the choke out it will flood on the next pull.
