Half way through ...

Ron Sardo in PA

>Boy do I miss turning. I'm half way though the bookcases I promised the wife. Yesterday while driving home I witness a big maple tree coming down. I stopped and asked If I could take a few pieces in exchange for some bowls. I grabbed up a couple of nice big chucks, but there where some really big ones we couldn't even lift into the van.

I had to slap myself when the thought came to me "Boy this tree would have make some great 1"x12" planks" But the trunk was already cut up into 24" sections. At least some bowls will be made.

Well back to the bookcases. As soon as I'm done I can start thinking about that bigger lathe.

>Funny you should mention that, I have the same problem. It seems that wives would understand that we shouldn't have to take time to do "practical woodworking" when it's so much fun to play on a lathe! At least they know where we are. At least we are not golfing. It seems like they would appreciate all those nice bowls. Not to mention the money we save on mulch. Wives can be rough!

>Hope you find your lathe again soon Ron. Sounds like you just caught the tree in time, a good haul, shame you just missed it before it got sawed. Beggars can't be choosers anyway with free wood :o)
