Gold Plateing

Dustmaker Mike

>Good Morning All I have some gold plated pen funnels and have been looking for some Silver or Nickle ones with no luck. How would be the best way to take the gold plateing off the ones I have, and then what should I coat them with to keep them shiney?

>The pen kits that have the so called "gold" plating on them are first plated with nichol which is "fairly" good plating.

Just take the one's you have with the gold color on them and use any metal polish on them and it will come off almost instantly and reveal the nichol plate.

One problem with doing this is it is difficult to get into some of the small area's and remove the gold from there but it can be done.

I perfer Flitz because it is less abrasive, available at hardware and hobby suppliers like www.micromark.com
