Mark Mandell - Gone Round In Jersey
>Have looked (McMaster-Carr, Enco, several others) but so far no joy in trying to get the heavy steel pipe. I need about 2 ft of 1"ID with minimum 1/4" walls [that's 1-1/2" OD diameter] steel (must be oxy-A weldable.
Anyone know of a source? 1/8" walled I can get; too light.

>What you are looking for is DOM tubing Drawn over mandrel. Call the local steel places and ask them for that by name.
You can always call metal Supermarkets. They have no minimum amd sell by the foot.

Found it at a yard not too far away, and a short detour on the way back from work.

>What I did was went to them and got 6' of 1.5", 1/4" wall tubing. Cut it in half and drilled 1" down the center, qbout .020" more than it was already. Drilled and tapped some set screws and then welede the two side by side.
