I think it is very bad business but they can do what they wish as the orders keep flying in I guess. I do know of a couple Canadians that have gone else where because of the pricing.

Example:The 1224 is $2850 Can and $1850 US.

Converted - 2448 Can or 2120 Us

This is due to the exchange, two years ago the Canadian price was much better then the US price.

I could drive 10 hours to the states buy the lathe and pay taxes at the border and still pay less then drive an hour and pick the lathe up at the factory.

Also if you talk to Canadian Dealers they will tell you that Oneway really doesn't care to sell to them they would rather you deal directly with Oneway. Therefore they get retail for the lathe not wholesale.

Great lathes! Very good after sale customer service!

The typical wait for a Oneway lathe is 4 to 6 months. Ordering right now is complecated by Oneway making lathes for the July symposium. This is to say that your order is going to fall behind the push to make enough lathes to use in the demo rooms and the tradshow floor.

If you want to see a lathe then visit someone who owns the lathe. BTW if you are considering a Oneway then order it today. Continue your search for the perfect lathe and if you decide you would rather have one of the other brands of fine lathes availble you can cancel your Oneway order.

I'm about 90 minutes from the factory and was in there the other day and said "so I guess there must be a new Canadian price list". Sullen looks back.

The problem they face isn't that they don't care about their customers, it's that their larger distributors want to print catalogs with prices that are good for the whole year. So their pricing is captured by that annual quotation. But it's like a 2 grand difference on the largest lathe with all the goodies, you can't really just smile and say, "no problem I'll pay the higher price".

I'm sure they wish they could adjust the prices. They build in Canada, so the real price is the Canadian price, largely, maybe not as regards the contribution of US parts, but the big tickets.

Nobody is really happy about this. There are a lot of Canadian dealers that used to sell to US customers, and they aren't happy because their business is toast. US customers haven't gotten a break in their currency, it's a bad situation.

You can see from my earlier post the difference of about 15 - 20 percent. Therefore the US price is going up or the Canadian is going down.

My bet would be up!
