>I would like to turn a bat for my nephews birthday.

Does anyone have of a link to a website that explains what to look for when choosing a piece of wood. Should the barrel have a certain grain pattern?

Thanks,

Lee

>Hi Lee, traditionally, bats are made of straight-grained ash. Some of the turning catalogs sell blanks specifically for this purpose. You will probably have to tailor the bat to your nephew's size. sounds like a fun project.
